To Save A Life~ Movie Night~ By Kari Willinger

To Save A Life~
This movie is about a teenager finding a way through all of life's struggles in his new walk through faith. Watching this movie encouraged me and my youth group to really get involved. We want to be the Jake Taylor of our youth group.

The beginning of the movie starts with a suicide of a high school boy. Later, you find out that that Jake used to be friends with him. The suicide changed Jake's life because he realized that he could have helped this boy. Jake makes a radical change and starts to help the church into a revival and starts to hang out with a kid from school who is 'emo'. Later, Jake finds out that his ex-girlfriend is pregnant, but he takes the new responsibility, in strife to follow the Lord's path for his life. This movie is an inspirational movie that shows us what real problems teens face today and how, if we stand by God, we can manage to get through it.

There is some profanity in this movie. There is one d-word and a few h-words, but that is the extent of language. I would usually not say that profanity helps a Christian movie, but with this movie, this profanity has a meaning. You also see Jake and Ashley (his ex) start to make out and head for the bed. Jake removes his shirt and then they close the scene.

This is a great movie! You will walk away asking yourself is you are a Jake Taylor or if you are a Danny. I suggest you watch this movie. You will not be disappointed. I give it a 3 out of 5.

Take the Time to Enjoy Fall~ A Fun Article by Hogan Stevens

Well, the fall season is quickly approaching. Soon the leaves will be changing color and the days will start getting cooler, marking the end of the fun summer. Gone are the days of swimming pools and ice cream, beaches and tanning…but wait, who said that summer is the only time to have fun? You can have just as much fun enjoying the fall weather as you did summer--maybe even more so.

Fall is my all-time favorite season. I love watching the trees as they slowly change from green to soft yellows, bright oranges, and fiery reds. I even love how the weather turns just cold enough for a light jacket! This year I am going to do everything I can to enjoy the last of the nice weather before winter rolls around. And I hope you’ll join me.

There are so many things to do during fall. You can get lost with your friends in a seemingly endless corn maze, ride your bike through a multicolored leaf-strewn street, go to a pumpkin patch…Have you noticed yet that all of the activities I’ve named require going outside? Well, how else could you enjoy the lovely weather? And I really don’t think glancing out of the window while you check your email counts.

Last year, my whole home school group had a cook out around this time of the year, and it was a blast. We played laser tag in the trees, roasted hotdogs on an open fire, and rode in horse-drawn carriages. The whole thing lasted a few hours, but it was fun to be doing something different for a change. Even when it grew dark and it got pretty cold, we all had a great time, coveralls and everything!

I’m not saying you have to spend hours outside having a cook out, or that you have to get together with a large group of people. Just do something to witness God’s magnificence in the nature.

You can go to a park to just take a seat and observe the beauty around you. I actually did this a few days ago with some of my home school buddies. We simply enjoyed being outside. Some people chose to find a seat somewhere and just talk, and others (namely, the boys) chose to play some games together. There’s something about fall that gives you a sense of peace and freedom, whatever you do.

Even if you cannot actually experience the fall weather where you live, you can still enjoy the season by heading to a pumpkin patch to grab a few pumpkins or by spending an afternoon at a fall festival. Festivals are a great place to gather with some friends while enjoying fun games and yummy foods. Treat yourself!

Of course, there are lots of fun things to do inside, too. Grab a friend or two and make some delicious food that reminds you of fall: cinnamon rolls, apple cider, pumpkin bread…Baking is a great way to bond with mom and friends and to fill your house with the unmistakably warm smell of fall. Maybe try something new by finding some recipes that you’ve never tried before. You might just discover a new favorite food!

I would love to be able to take a hike or walk down a path surrounded by trees, but where I come from, mountains and lots of trees are hard to come by. Even so, I make the best of what I have by simply enjoying the time I spend with my friends and family, whether it be going outside or baking goodies.

Hopefully, I’ve inspired you to take the time to appreciate the coming fall weather. If I have and you are planning on enjoying a day of outside fun, remember one thing: Watch out for those annoying mosquitoes! Every single time I go outside, the little monsters eat me up. I suspect they’ve formed a secret pact against me. So, if you’re like me, you may need to have some bug spray handy (and sunscreen, too). You want to have a fun time that leaves you with good memories, not itchy legs and burnt arms! And if you think you would have fun trying new foods at a festival or by baking them yourself, then go ahead, and don’t worry about it. Take the time to enjoy fall and, more precisely, to enjoy yourself!

The Visit~ A Poem by Emily Ciszewski

There's Someone special,
Knocking on my heart's door.
I feel Him knocking
And I begin to feel sore,
Because this Someone, who is special to me,
He wants my all, He wants everything.
Jesus wants everything.....
He wants me to give, until there's nothing left.
To live, until I'm at His door-step.....
But I'm so stubborn, I don't want to let this up.
My dreams are too precious to go.
I'm so foolish, because I know what needs to be done,
But I don't do it....
There's Someone special, He's back again,
And every time I close my eyes
He's floating inside my head......
Asking me to give - until there's nothing left.
To live - until I'm at His door-step.....
But I'm so stubborn, I don't want to let this up.
I hear His voice, touch at my heart,
"My dreams are yours - if you are mine - and your dreams are mine - if I am yours...."
I grasp my dreams.....to my soul....
The tug is still there...that selfish pull...
Then I feel a hand rest, over mine,
I know I have to
I let them go.
The tears pour
Down my cheeks
I feel the pain, the loss, like rain, dreading all was lost in vain
Then I turn around
And see,
He's been holding all those dreams.....
For me........

Are You Clothed?~ Inner Beauty Revelation Column by Madeline Hunt

Rather clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus. Romans 13:14
Therefore as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12
All of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another.1Peter 5:5b
She is clothed with strength and dignity. Proverbs 31:25a

Although you may take great care to dress modestly or femininely, how much time do you spend clothing your heart? Throughout the Bible, God makes it clear that He is more concerned with our heart than our outward appearance. If you devote yourself to adorning your heart carefully, your inner beauty will shine through. I challenge you to record the amount of time you spend getting dressed, showering, and getting ready; include any “touch-up” during the day. Compare that with the time you spend adorning your heart each morning. The character traits in the verses above will bless you and others, but first you must be willing to devote the time that it will take.

Picture yourself shopping for an outfit for a special occasion. You will make sure everything coordinates and looks lovely. You may even buy new jewelry to complement the outfit. On the day of the event, you will make sure the clothes are clean before putting them on, and you will be careful to keep them clean all day.

Do you go through the same process with your heart? The spiritual clothing of your heart is so much more important than the physical clothing of your body. It is hard to focus on the appearance of our hearts instead of our physical appearance. But it will be so worth it! Your relationship with God and others will improve, you will be a light to others, and you inner beauty will be evident to everyone, and your life will be a testimony! Are you willing to devote what it takes? I challenge you to choose one of these “spiritual articles of clothing” to pray for whenever you are tempted to worry about the way you look.
