A WONDERing Fish~ Haylie Gregory

I have always wanted to be a fish. I have always enjoyed reading the names of the different types of
artificial worms you could fish with. The worms would have names that sounded something like “Watermelon Passion” or “Strawberry Blitz”. When I was little, I assumed they named them by the ‘flavor’ because they seemed to have names like a new flavor of Smackers lip balm. Now I think of them as new flavors of Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream!  To a seven year old girl, Watermelon Passion ‘gummy worms’ sounded very tasty. Okay, they still seem tasty to a seventeen year old too, but hey, you are now curious too!  No, I have never tried one but I still wonder. For that reason, I wanted to be a fish.

Do you ever wonder about things? Do you wonder about your future? Do you wonder if you made the right choice in a certain situation? Do you find yourself just wondering? Wondering is something every person does. We wonder about things because the choices we make may affect the rest of our lives. The million dollar question here is how can we make the right choices in life?

God knows the perfect plan for our lives. He planned out the life that is best for us. God’s will for your life is the best plan for your life. You might be wondering how we know what God’s will is for our lives. We ask Him.

Whenever we want to know something we ask someone do we not? When we are sick, we ask a doctor what to do. When we are having trouble in math, we ask our math teacher or tutor. When we want to know what the right choice in life is, we tend to ask the wrong person. We ask other people for their insights. Though some may be right, we never seem to ask the One who wrote out our life story. We tend to forget God, the all-knowing Creator of the universe.

Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, GOD created the heavens and the earth.” You think that we would ask the Creator of the earth to help us with our problems on earth, and not those who have lived on this earth a few years longer than us. We need to remember that God is the one we are to ask our questions to FIRST. No, it is not wrong to seek godly council, but seek God first.

God is Omniscient, which means “All knowing”.  Job 36:4 says, “For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.” Job 37:16 says, “Dost thou know the balancing of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?” God IS All-knowing. He is perfect (or complete) in knowledge. Who wouldn’t want to ask questions about life to someone who is all knowing?!

Don’t be a wondering fish anymore. Ask the greatest Fisher of Men about your life. Ask Him all of your questions and have faith that He will answer them. He knows what is best for you! Trust in Him.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
