Fishing with the Right Bait

If you have been following Lilies Among Thorns Magazine for awhile, you might have realized that we post a lot of inner beauty/modesty articles. I have it scheduled out this way with our beauty writers. Every month, one of our beauty writers will write an article about inner beauty or modesty. Now, some of you may think that we are over-doing this subject, but I want to get the message across to you about how important it is. I want you ladies to know that inner beauty is what actually matters.

Lots of girls judge beauty by what guys or a certain guy thinks. You get all dolled up and head out for the weekend to catch a guy’s attention, but is that how you want to keep his attention?

My pastor, before he left to become a missionary, told my youth group that ‘how you catch them is how you must keep them’. This means, if you caught him with the wrong bait (your looks), you will loose him later. If you are fishing with the right bait (your inner beauty and God), then you won’t have to worry about loosing him.

Psalm 39:11 says, “When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity.” This verse is saying that your outer beauty is nothing without your inner beauty. Anyone can be beautiful on the outside! Look around you; you see beautiful women all the time, but are they happy? They may seem happy on the outside, but are they on the inside? Look at Jennifer Lopez. She was voted Most Beautiful Women by People Magazine. She is currently going through a divorce. You can be the most beautiful women in the world and still not be happy.

Happiness comes from God. God is the only one who can give you true, everlasting happiness! Your beauty comes from God. King David said in Psalm 27:4, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.” David wanted the beauty of the Lord, and that is exactly what we should want! We should want the beauty of God! Who could possibly be more beautiful than Him? He created beauty!

So Ladies, let me ask you, what bait do you want to fish with?

Did you know that Haylie has an unhealthy addiction to Pac-Man?!
