Back to School Fashion~ By Renee Arnold

None of us want to think about getting up at 6:00 AM and heading out the door to school, but the reality is, we have about a month left until our alarms will be going off much too early once again! Picking the perfect outfit for school each day is most likely important to you, here is your guide to 3 back to school fashion trends that are stylish and modest.

Trend #1: Cropped Tops
Probably this summer you have seen a girl wearing a cropped top without a cami underneath, exposing her stomach, but this is only one part of the cropped top trend. These short cut shirts also look great exposing less skin like the one shown below. I would advise picking out a cropped top and then going to find a few colored cami's that would look great underneath. This way, you can be in style, mix up your look and still be modest!

Trend #2: Floral Print
Flowers and more flowers are in style yet again for the girly girls out there! This trend is very diverse and ranges from skirts to tank tops so I'm sure you'll find something floral you love! If it is a t-shirt or tank top, make sure it's not too low that you're exposing cleavage or too high showing off you're stomach. If you choose a skirt, make sure you're upper thighs and butt are covered, possible about fingertip length depending on your body type. If you're in doubt, put it back on the shelf or ask for a second opinion to be safe!

Trend #3: Leopard Print
America is once again borrowing fashion idea's from the wild! Animal prints, especially leopard are going to be very popular! Again, make sure it is modest and not exposing too much which should be easy to do considering there are so many options out there!

Good luck at back to school! Have a very successful year and remember that God is there with you every step of the way. Please, don't take any of my suggestions as excuses to wear something you feel convicted not to wear or your parents don't think is right. Pray about your wardrobe with God and he'll come through for you.

Did you know that Renee LOVES apples, but HATES apple juice??

Valetine's Day Outfit Ideas~ By Madeline Hunt

Because Valentines Day is quickly approaching, some of you are probably contemplating what to wear.  Using nine pieces, I have created three outfits. One for if you are going on a date, one for hanging out with friends, and one for embracing the joy of being single!

Top row L to R. Embellished cardigan- Old Navy $29.50, Soft Drape T- American Eagle $19.50, Grey hoodie- Kohl's $12.99
Middle Row L to R Denim Pencil Skirt- Old Navy $29.50, Artist Jeans- American Eagle $39.50, Yoga pants- Aerie $29.50
Bottom Row L to R Romantic Lace Cami- Aerie $19.50, Fashion drop earrings- Old Navy $8.50, Febee bow flat- Payless $22.99

Outfit #1-"I'm going on a date"
For this outfit I chose the cream embellished cardi, denim pencil skirt, lace cami, circle earrings, and the brown flats. For a date on valentines day- I think dressing up is fun and especially if you are going to a nicer restaurant a must. This outfit totals at $109.99, but if you used some of your own pieces then it could cost allot less. For example subbing in a red or pink cami that you already own would be super cute! The point of this is to give you an idea of what to wear, not force you to spend tons of money! If you live in a cold weather state I would also suggest wearing brown tights.

Outfit # 2- "I'm hanging with my girls"
I think this outfit is cute and chic featuring the jeans, drape T, flats and silvery earrings. Even when you are hanging with your gal pals its still fun to dress a little nicer then normal. This outfit costs $90.49 but you could totally use a pair of jeans you already have. by the way I love the Artist jeans from AE they are so comfy!! Accessorizing is important when you wear a basic tee and jeans so make sure you pair this with a cute necklace and earrings or a cute scarf!

Outfit # 3 "I'm so happy I'm single right now so tonight is going to be a night of chocolate and Pride and Prejudice"

Hoodie, check. Drape T,check. Yoga pants, check. Cute socks, sort of check.  This is night night to be comfy and be happy that you don't need a guy to fill you up. You probably noticed I didn't put a pair of socks in that first picture- well I looked but I couldn't find any cute ones online- Try Delia's in store they have tons of fun patterns! Total outfit cost comes to ..... $ 61.99. Again this is just an idea so your yoga pants are just fine. :) Have fun watching movies eating chocolate and reading the greatest love story ever written- God's word!

Have a very happy Valentine's Day!
Please remember that not all clothes are modest on everyone, please don't use my words as justification to go against your modesty standards!

Winter Fashions~ A Clothing Article by Renee Arnold

Winter fashion is in full swing! Wondering what is in this season?  Tall boots, chunky sweaters, ripped jeans and asymmetrical tops are! You can pull off all of these trends in a modest and downright stylish way!

From Uggs, or knock-offs if that's your thing, to ankle boots. From tall boots with big heels to short boots with itty-bitty heels, they're all in this season! Your fuzzy, suede boot can work with almost any style. It looks great with jeans for a cute, wintry look or even with sweats for a layed back, casual look. Boots with heels look great with dresses or over skinny jeans for a more dressed up outfit. If you're shorter, boots with some type of heel can give you a little boost and make any school outfit!

For us girls who love modesty, seeing the turtleneck come back into style is very pleasing. Sweaters are perfect for chilly days! You can match it with a scarf or necklace to add a little touch of you to it, and they can go with almost anything. Turtlenecks can be so versatile,  as you can pair them with jeans or a pencil skirt.

Ripped jeans are everywhere! As long as they're not crazy and show too much skin through the rips, they're so cute. You can find them almost anywhere in all different washes and styles. They can be matched with your casual boots, if you are being more laid back, or can be matched with a heeled boot, if your are going for the more dressed-up look. Check to see if your school has a policy about your jeans before you wear them to school because some schools have rules about them. This can also help you decide how many pairs you want to have.

Asymmetrical tops are so cute; they come in all different shapes and styles. Some are one shoulder, some have a wrapped or draped look and others flow out at the bottom and create a triangle-like shape. Be sure to make the right, modest choice when buying asymmetrical shirts. Most of them are one shoulder, so if you buy one, make sure it can be made modest. These tops can be either casual or dressy, depending on what style you get.

Winter weather fashion is very cute and it's somewhat easier to find modest pieces. I hope you have fun winter- weather shopping!

Fall Fashion Look Outs~ In Our Closet~ By Renee Arnold

Fall is approaching us and that means that it will be less tempting for people to buy skimpier clothes, but that doesn't mean they're not out there. I'm going to give you three examples of fall fashion don’ts to watch for. Remember, I don't want to force my standards on anyone! I hope that you prayerfully consider your own standards and don't just copy those of another Christian sister. These are just ways of helping you know if they are modest on YOU!

The first thing to watch out for is skinny jeans. I am not slamming skinny jeans. I adore skinny jeans and love the way they look and feel on me. When wearing skinny jeans, you need to watch out for how tight they are on you. If your skinny jeans, or any jeans for that matter, are tight, then isn't it basically like denim colored skin? What's the difference if your jeans are really tight?

Here's how to check for this problem. Pinch the denim together at the top of your thigh. If you're pinching skin then they might be too tight. Also, if you have to wiggle your way into them, they are too tight. Also, look at you hinny in the mirror. (Sorry if this sounds awkward) If you see bunching under your hinny or around your thighs, then your pants are too tight.

The second thing to watch out for is lace camisoles. Lace cami's are simply beautiful and elegant under a low cut top, but you do need to watch how low they are. If the lace has little "peek holes" in it then it can be revealing without trying to be. Try to buy higher cut lace cami's or smaller “peek holes” and that will solve this fall fashion dilemma.

Last but not least is a strapless dress. If you are buying a strapless dress for a special occasion make sure it fits right. Make sure it's not so tight that your chest is squashed, but also make sure it's not so loose that you're going to pulling it up all night! Make sure the neckline is high enough that you're not showing any cleavage for modesty's sake and the sake of everyone around you. I think strapless dresses are a very cute addition to any girl's wardrobe as long as it is worn correctly.

My only disclaimer for this article is this; please don't use this article as an excuse to wear something your parents don't want you wearing or you don't feel right about. Modesty is a personal issue and I'm just trying to help out and make decisions a tad bit easier. If your parents say no about something, then do as they say. God tells us to honor our mother and father.

So have fun this October and always remember that Jesus loves you SO much that He died for you!
